A couple weeks ago, I had the opportunity to attend Just Us at the Barnes Foundation, and it was one of those experiences that really stays with you.
I was incredibly proud to see my talented client’s artwork on display, but beyond that, the evening gave me a deeper appreciation for the life-changing impact that art can have.
Hearing Jane Golden, Executive Director of Mural Arts Philadelphia, speak about the Restorative Justice program was especially powerful. She shared how art gives people the opportunity to reclaim their stories, rebuild their sense of self, and create meaningful change in their own lives and in the communities around them. One thing she said that has stuck with me is that people should never be defined by one moment in their lives.
The exhibition features work created by artists from Mural Arts Philadelphia’s Rec Crew and SCI Phoenix, and every piece reflects resilience, creativity, and humanity.
I’m grateful I had the chance to experience this exhibition and to support an organization that believes in second chances and the transformative power of art. If you’re in Philadelphia, I highly recommend visiting Just Us at the Barnes Foundation before it closes on August 24. It’s a beautiful reminder that art changes lives.
